Snohomish County

Choosing Healthy Alternatives – Recovery and Treatment (CHART) was created to give persons charged with certain felonies an opportunity to address their addictions to drugs and alcohol. By choosing CHART, participants are being given a chance to rebuild their life. By successfully completing the CHART program, participants have their felony charge dismissed.

The primary purpose of the Snohomish County Drug Treatment Court program is to provide intervention and treatment for offenders referred by the criminal justice system who want to make positive life changes and break their cycle of addiction. Participants meet other people who know what it feels like to be chemically dependant and learn the skills needed for a drug-free lifestyle.

Participant Eligibility:

  • Charged in Snohomish County with a drug related felony
  • No indication of a commercial operation in the charged offense
  • No more than five prior felony convictions not counting VUSCA possession
  • Strong desire to address and overcome their addiction
  • Treatment evaluation that identifies appropriate candidates

Ineligible offenses:

  • Violent crimes
  • Sexual offenses
  • Unresolved felony charges

Graduation Requirements:

  • Successfully complete chemical dependency treatment

  • Remain clean and sober as demonstrated through drug testing

  • Employed and have a plan for ongoing recovery and relapse prevention

Graduation from the program is cause for celebration! Family and friends are invited to attend the graduation ceremony, which honors the participants successful completion of the program and their accomplishment of achieving a drug and alcohol-free life.
