NATIONAL RED RIBBON WEEK - OCTOBER 23 - 31

In 1985, Enrique (Kiki) Camarena, a special agent of the Drug Enforcement Administration, was murdered by the drug cartel in Mexico.

To honor his memory, and to show they would continue his fight against illegal drugs, friends and family wore red ribbons. The following year, Congress declared October as National Drug Prevention Month and the last week in October became Red Ribbon Week.

Today, Red Ribbon Week is celebrated throughout our nation. Red Ribbon campaigns remind people that healthy and vibrant communities are drug-free.
