--According to a report (The Supply of Illicit Drugs to
the United States) released by the Office of National Drug Control Policy in 1996,
meth trafficking is increasing in the Southwest, Midwest and Southeast regions of the
country.
According to this report, the dominant source of supply in
these regions is California-based laboratories controlled by organized crime drug
trafficking groups operating from Mexico.
This report identified several states as areas dominated
by Mexican organized crime drug groups, including: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia,
Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Texas and Washington.
