"Nobody knows for sure just how many youths are using the drug, but a statewide survey three years ago found that roughly one in 10 high school seniors had tried meth at least once." (Methamphetamine poses an epidemic of destruction in Snohomish County, Everett Herald, February 10, 2002)

The Washington State Adolescent Health Survey in 1998 reported that 11% of high school seniors had tried meth at least one time.

Ecstasy
A popular drug at "raves" (all-night teen parties) is Ecstasy (MDMA).  This drug is similar to the stimulant amphetamine and the hallucinogen mescaline. For $25 a pill, users claim the effects can last from 4 to 8 hours. Users report being drawn to the abundance of energy and heightened sensitivity to touch. The drug has, on some occasions, led to heart and kidney failure. Teens are sometimes sold methamphetamine as Ecstasy.
