The NW HIDTA responded to ONDCP on the pass-back questions regarding the 2001 Threat Assessment, Strategy, Initiatives and budgets. ONDCP was very complimentary of our Threat Assessment and Strategy. They did, however, have questions regarding some of our law enforcement and intelligence initiatives. Most of the questions focused on the issues of collaboration and co-mingling of the task forces and the intelligence program and their outputs. Responses and the appropriate revisions to the initiatives were completed and forwarded to ONDCP.

The self-review program was inaugurated this past month. All the law enforcement initiatives and the intelligence and the administrative programs were reviewed. Each initiative report will be correlated with follow-up questions and comments and attached to an executive summary. These will then be presented to the Law Enforcement Committee for review, then to the Executive Committee for approval, and on to ONDCP. I want to thank the reviewers for their fine work and express my appreciation to the programs being reviewed for their cooperation.

Finally, I wish to alert the participating agencies that the annual Law Enforcement Survey on drug patterns, trends, arrests, seizures and identification of major drug trafficking organizations will be sent out shortly. This information not only provides us with a "snapshot" of current activity but is vital to the preparation of the Annual Report, Threat Assessment, and Strategy. Please be as thorough as possible in completing the survey. Information that is law enforcement sensitive will be handled according to WISN protocols.
