HIDTA - WSIN Training offered.

WSIN's Regional Coordinator Bill Sweeney and members of the Investigative Support Unit designed a training program to give drug investigators an understanding of the need to utilize the Critical Event Deconfliction System and how to maximize the returns from the WSIN intelligence system. Also, we want to educate the drug investigator in the diverse services available through the HIDTA and WSIN.

In July, the first class included members of the Snohomish Count Task Force and Everett PD. The plan is to present an overview for up to twenty attendees at a time in the NW HIDTA training room. We plan to invite every drug enforcement unit in the HIDTA region. The program will also be presented in Eastern Washington at least once a year.

At a minimum, the course instruction will include the following points:

1) An overview of the HIDTA program.
2) Critical Event Deconfliction - How to use it.
3) Controlling Contributer process and value to investigations.
4) Loaned technical equipment available.
5) Analytical Services and Criminal Intelligence Specialist staff.
6) Information services and sources of information.
7) On-site completion and validation of WSIN security cards.
8) Clan Lab and Subject card completion and submission.
9) Required information under the 28 CFR requirements.
10) WSIN overview and RISSNET use.
11) When to call WSIN / HIDTA.

Agencies interested in scheduling this training should contact the WSIN coordinators or the Watch Center, 1-800-388-DRUG (3784.)
